Mood Board

I first set up a mood board to get a picture of which animals I wanted to draw inspiration from.

Studying Anatomy of Animals

I wanted the bison and the rhino to be the main inspiration for my creature so I made various illustrations to learn their anatomy.

Creature Silhouettes

I sketched various silhouettes to determine which design would work the best. Although I like more than one design, I opted for the fourth one as it is simple in appearance yet has interesting features like the feathers that will allow me to experiment with different colours.

Making a mock up

I used Photoshop to create a mock up of the creature using the silhouette images from the mood board as

Trying out different textures

I created different textures for the creatures to get a feel of how they look.
