The First Week
During the first lecture, we went to the school's outside Greek theatre. Here we made various pen and paper exercises. Initially we took a piece of paper and doodled with as many mediums as we can as if taking a dot for a walk. We also drew the landscape of whatever was in front of us and the face of the person next to us.
I was a bit puzzled as I could not any sense as to what was the meaning of all this, especially the first exercise.
It was explained to us later, that this helps us find out which mediums we work better with and help us criticise our work and that of others. I discovered that I work better using pencils and a black fine tip marker.
In another lecture, we divided into groups and had to list down what we think when we hear the phrase “celebrating differences”. Then each one of us had to choose word from that list of things and make a list of things that the word we chose reminds us of. I chose the word art, and art reminds me of graffiti. I have decided that I will write about how graffiti artists use this art style to deliver their message.
